About Me
Kim Dart is a registered perinatal nurse, practitioner and consultant specializing in breast/chest feeding and family centered care in the greater Toronto area and regions. She has been a lactation consultant since 1998. She began her private practice, Baby’s First Sips, in 2008. For over 25 years, she has been teaching prenatal classes and helping parents with breast/chest feeding challenges. She specializes in many breast/chest feeding issues such as difficulty latching, flat, sore and cracked nipples, low milk supply, premature infants, twins, and much more...
Kim received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from University of Toronto and has worked in various positions in Maternal Newborn Nursing in hospital, clinic, and home care settings. She has obtained Perinatal Nurse certification from the Canadian Nurses Association, and a Master of Science in Nursing Degree specializing in family-centered care.
Kim has been active on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Lactation Consultant Association through her experience helping breast/chest feeding parents utilizing her highly specialized knowledge in this field. Kim is a professor at Humber Polytechnic teaching Nurses in the Obstetrics certificate program. Kim works at Mount Sinai Hospital as a perinatal clinical nurse educator..
As a mother of 4 children, she began her independent breast/chest feeding practice and obtained her International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certificate (IBCLC) in 1998 and has re-certified to maintain highest standards as a member of both Canadian and International Lactation Consultant Association.
